Taking place next to the iconic 15th-century Bánffy Castle, in the heart of Transylvania, Electric Castle brings together music, art, technology and culture in a setting unlike any other.

Every edition introduces a diverse line-up spanning alternative, electronic, rock, pop, hip-hop and emerging sounds, alongside new media installations, performances, talks and experiences designed to be discovered around the clock.

Breathtaking scenery, historical surroundings and a community that comes back year after year create a world that exists for only a few days, but stays with you long after you leave.

One of Europe’s few
truly 24-hour festival.

Round the clock entertainment, artistic performances, immersive installations, stand-up comedy, fashion & fair area, carefully selected food & drinks vendors and a variety of daytime activities to choose from keeps everyone busy and excited day in and day out.

Since its first edition in 2013, the festival has welcomed some of the world’s most influential artists, including The Cure, Twenty One Pilots, Justin Timberlake, Queens of the Stone Age, Massive Attack, Florence + The Machine, Gorillaz, The Prodigy, Bring Me The Horizon, Skrillex, Iggy Pop, Justice, Chase & Status, deadmau5, Macklemore, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Sean Paul and many more.

EC VILLAGE

Electric Castle has the largest festival camping in Romania. For five days, over 18.000 people choose to live there. EC Village is more than a place to sleep. It is a festival within the festival and a temporary home for the Electric Castle community.

Opening ahead of the main festival, the camping experience brings together accommodation, food and drinks, essential services, music, activities and spaces to recharge before heading back into the festival.

BÁNFFY CASTLE

With breathtaking sights and amazing surroundings, the century old Bánffy Castle is the home of Electric Castle. As a premiere for the festival, the castle opened its doors to the public during the 5th edition of Electric Castle, hosting an array of exhibitions and interactive art installations.

Every year we try to bring our contribution to the restoration of one of Romania’s forgotten landmarks.

Alongside local authorities we continued our long term vision of investing in the Castle and village infrastructure, creating new jobs opportunities for the community and bolstering local economy. After the successful restoration of the castle’s roof thanks to generous donations, now we are focusing on reinforcing and consolidating the frame structure.

While being coherent with our festival concept, we experiment new things at each edition. Our drive is to create a better and better festival experience for the electric people. Care for nature and heritage

Electric Castle is built with a focus on environment and sustainability. With each edition, a small city is being raised from scratch and our efforts are directed to reducing the festival’s plastic and carbon footprint. We are fully committed to supporting the restoration of Bánffy Castle and the historical buildings surrounding it, preserving the cultural heritage and attracting more visitors.
