Nature Is Our Dance Floor
That’s why, when the party is over, we pay attention to everything we leave behind, so future generations of festival goers will be able not only to rock their bodies in the exact pristine nature but, most importantly, live on a rockin’ planet.
At Electric Castle, we believe that when it comes to any sustainable action it shouldn’t be a one-hit wonder, but an all-timer.
Thus, our environmental efforts are constant and more in tune with nature.
One edition at a time.
And all these wouldn't be possible without a collective effort. Our take on sustainability is community-based. We engage in different initiatives and partnerships with NGOs, associations, and key partners all year long to be able to bring about real change.
We know there is still room for improvement, but while we’ll lead the way, we’ll need a hand here and there.

Green Initiatives

Reusable Cups
To cut down on waste and keep things eco-friendly, we’re using reusable cups this year. You can grab one at the bar and use it throughout the festival.
CARPOOLING supported by
CO2 slayer on board
Jump in a friend’s or neighbour’s car and drive together to the Castle during the 4 days of the festival, to reduce carbon emissions. Yup, together we become “CO2 slayers”. Last year 6000 cars arrived at the festival packed with friends, and won free parking and some of them even a bunch of nice prizes, such as EC12 tickets, upgrade to VIP or official merchandise.
COLLECTIVE TRANSPORT
EC train
came by train
All aboard on a journey towards the festival! Leave the car at home and hop on the EC train. The party will start on your way to the Castle while helping reduce CO2 emissions.
EC busses
took the bus
Free yourself from the hustle of driving and the planet from more CO2 emissions and hop on our non stop busses!
GREENERY
Evergrowing Forest supported by
Together with our friends at BT, we started to transform EC Village into a place with many shaded areas and green spaces. From a festival campsite to a locals’ park open for all. This year we planted 2500 trees, with a total of 7000 trees planted since 2023. And we’ll keep doing so for the next 2 years. Twice a year, during Spring and Autumn.
The Green Carpet supported by
grass seed
You can say grass is every ecosystem’s headliner. It protects against soil erosion, it absorbs water and helps purify the air.
That’s why, together with OMV, this year we will replant the festival’s site with 12 ha of fresh grass. Like we did last year. And next year we’ll do the same. Our dance steps shouldn’t ruin nature’s party.
Bound to Sustainability by
Because we believe music and nature go hand in hand.
Together with Lidl, our strategic partner, we are committed to a more environmentally responsible festival experience. We're taking steps to make every beat, every light, and every moment more sustainable. Join us, and let's make it happen together.

LESS PLASTIC by
Life in plastic AIN'T fantastic
We aim to reduce single-use plastic in the festival and put into motion all actions to minimise plastic usage whenever possible. All providers, food vendors, vendors follow the Less Plastic Policy.
Water Refill Station
cut down in 2024
Keep your body & mind hydrated to party like an animal. Inside the EC village you’ll find a water refill station you can use at any time to refill your camelback or water bottle.
SELECTIVE WASTE by
RECYCLED
Selective waste
Look for the colorful bins! Lidl helps people keep the festival grounds squeaky clean by covering the area with recycling bins.
WASTE MANAGEMENT by
“Clean up after ourselves” pledge
Building the festival from the ground up uses a lot of resources. That’s why we aim to recycle the pre & post festival waste.
Cooking oil turned into candles? Yes, really!
With the help of OilRight, a social enterprise, we collected nearly a ton (965 kg, to be exact) of used cooking oil from our vendors, which is now being turned into eco-friendly candles. It’s the little things that add up to big changes!
UPCYCLING
Before I was____
Electric Castle’s sustainable merch line made out of recycled and reused materials from the festival.
Rematerialization
A hard to pronounce word for a very simple process. Construction-used materials get a second life. What today was flooring, tomorrow can be a bar counter.

A fashion upcycling campaign powered by
Worn-out clothes get the second life they deserve when the beloved destroyed garments were donated to the box installed in Promenada Mall Bucharest. These become new outfits, tote bags and bean bags.

Green Energy Festival

ECO EC VILLAGE
Timed Hot Showers by
saved
Nothing feels as good as taking a long hot shower the morning after an epic party. But our comfort is taking a toll on our planet. Our timed hot showers save 30% of water and energy too. Thanks to everyone who`ll skip directly to the chorus while singing in the shower, we can save can save 2.5 million liters of water during the week the campsite is open!
Sustainable lighting
The camping alleys are illuminated with sun powered lamps. No worries, they last all night long.
Solar totems
Only our photovoltaics love laying in the sun more than you do. Sun is up, and so is your phone’s battery. Just plug it into one of the solar totems spread around the campsite and let nature do its magic.
Ashtray Polls by
Find them and vote, cast your cig butts at the ashtray polls. Over 50.000 cigarette butts were collected by the fun yellow polls in the festival in 2024.

Community

Creating sustainable communities isn't just about the now; it's about laying the foundation of a place where future generations can live too. About enhancing our quality of life while being mindful of our environment. Local communities play a vital role in driving sustainable development initiatives, in and outside the festival, as they are intimately connected to the natural resources, social fabric, and economic well-being of their regions.
Imagine our community as a garden, where each seed grows from shared resources and stories, enriching and purifying our shared space, thriving through our collective care for today and tomorrow.
VOLUNTEERING
Our volunteers? Absolute heroes. They're the go-to for everything festival-related, from lockers to wristband top-ups, pouring their hearts into making EC unforgettable. Annually, 1000 strong, they’re the backbone of our festival and the future of the event industry.

RISING STARS
(with almost 35% of the line-up consisting of local & emerging artists,) we're all about shining a spotlight on emerging stars, giving up-and-coming artists a platform to wow the world, a shot to move people. Both literally and figuratively. It’s their chance to experiment, perform, and kickstart their journey amidst the magic of EC.
KIDS CORNER supported by
Yes, EC is a playground for adults, but kids have their own corner of fun too! By partnering up with different associations every year, we've designed a space to stimulate creativity and joy and keep the little EC fans occupied, and their parents in the festival vibe.
ALIAT CHILL TENT
