Creative Camp

Hip-Hop Week at glo Creative Camp. A musical challenge that heals the soul

glo Creative Camp is a project meant to connect young talents with experienced musicians and create a context that enhances their creativity. This year, the camp covers 3 weekly modules, each of them with new artists, new mentors and new music styles. What stays the same is the rebellious cause: creating a remix of an oldie & goldie song.

The artists of the first week.

The first week brought together the following artists:
Grasu XXL - mentor
Vlad Flueraru
Vlad Bolborea
Phvne
Paul Iorga
Darius Herghiligiu
Bogdan Ghirău

We also had a few guests over, from time to time. At the launch party, Deliric put the music, making sure that we enjoy this project right from the start.

A musical retreat.

In order to enhance the collaboration and inspiration of each team, we needed a cool place to host our project. A place that inspires itself. Arome22 was the perfect choice to accommodate the artists and to welcome them into a cosy studio. But we were at the seaside, so besides Arome22, we retreated to the place that hosted our music last year - Cochilia. Cochilia is close enough to the sea to see the waves and feel the breeze, but far enough to be our little hideout. We installed a studio there and invited the artists to absorb those good seaside vibes.

And let’s not forget about the weekly parties we had every Saturday at Cochilia. We loved meeting you there.

A team, a song and a remix.

The first week was about giving a fresh hip-hop reinterpretation to a well-known song, one that Grasu XXL finds absolutely incredible. This song is “Speranțe vis, speranțe flori”. Mihaela Runceanu, the artist who produced it, is one of the most known Romanian pop singers. Her life ended in a tragic way, but her musical legacy still produces pure happiness.

But how?

It’s all fun and games until you realise that you have only one week to produce a song. How can you do it? By constantly playing. Together. The fact that we had two studios helped the artists produce music all day long and at the beginning of the night as well. They let the original song by Mihaela Runceanu inspire their work. The rest was just about feeling the music.

During the first week, we had the chance to document the work of some great producers. We didn’t want to miss any part of their meticulous work, so we had to be alert all the time. What I found the most fascinating in this process was the opportunity to see them working freely. With each interaction, they were breaking more barriers and getting more creative.” - Dorin Marcu, video director EC

We also had jam sessions happening every evening. This part was essential to create a bond between the artists and nurturing their creativity.

When you invest your emotions in life and music, you get a purpose. I think that this is the best part - you can listen to a song and feel like you’re not alone.” - Bogdan Ghirău, glo selected talent

The remixes of each week will be released soon and we can’t wait to hear your thoughts about them.

Interview with Herodot about Creative Camp: “The most beautiful, interesting, beneficial and challenging music project I have ever taken part in”

Nature is our dance floor

That’s why when the party is over, the only footprint left behind has to be a positive one. At Electric Castle, we believe that sustainability shouldn’t be a one-hit wonder but an all-timer. Our efforts are sustained and constant for each edition to be more environmentally friendly.
